During her university years, Dr. Salkeld immersed herself in the field of wildlife medicine. Her contributions ranged from wildlife rehabilitation and the implementation of vaccination programs to roles in Zoo and Wildlife medicine, including work at the Toronto Zoo and the Lima Zoo in Peru.

After graduating from OVC in 1995, she joined the team at Hawkesbury and Glengarry Animal Hospitals, becoming an essential member and later rising to a leadership position. In 2011, she became a partner in the business, solidifying her commitment to animal care and the community.

Dr. Salkeld’s professional focus remains on internal medicine and soft tissue surgery, where she collaborates closely with clients to ensure positive outcomes for their beloved pets. Beyond her thriving veterinary career, she is known for her passion for creating functioning teams and working collaboratively with both staff and clients. Dr. Salkeld places a strong emphasis on the importance of creating a supportive work environment, fostering a culture that enhances the well-being of both the team and the animals they care for.

In her personal life, she finds joy in outdoor activities, sharing hiking adventures with her daughter, embracing the winter with cross-country skiing, and creating music alongside her father. Away from the clinic, Dr. Salkeld and her husband manage a hobby farm, providing a loving home for their two dogs, Sam and Obi and a charming assortment of chickens and turkeys. Dr. Salkeld’s journey from university studies, wildlife medicine and to becoming a respected partner at the Hawkesbury and Glengarry Animal Hospitals reflects her unwavering dedication to the well-being of animals, the community she serves, and the creation of a supportive and collaborative work environment.
